I was approached by the National Theatre to design their print programme to accompany 'Nye', a 'Welsh fantasia' celebrating the life of the founder of the NHS and directed by Rufus Norris. The visual language was inspired by old NHS pamphlets and foregrounded 'Helvetica Now', the new typeface for the National Theatre. With fine keylines and structured columns, the programme has a modernist, clean feel, while the oversized typography breaks the grid and straddles the gutter, nodding to the rebellious and innovative spirit of both Nye Bevan and his wife, Jenny Lee, who was Minister for the Arts when the NT was founded.
